Here lies Grant Cohen.
Here lies Grant Cohen.
I finally am in bed. 40+ hours awake.
What a grueling but exhilarating experience. So glad I did it.
There are at least 2 posts I plan to write in the next few days:
1. Review of AngelHackNYC
2. Post-mortem on my team’s experience
It’s been fun!

Didn’t make the cut for Round 2. So it goes…
The pitch video. Well, here it is. It took a lot to get here, that’s for sure!

12:30pm - 1.5 hours to go
I’m halfway done with our pitch video. Intro is solid and relatable and I hope will make people laugh. It needs to be up by 2p, so I plan on starting to upload to the hackathon website by 1:30p, hopefully leaving myself enough time to deal with any hiccups.
Semantic search is done, tested and working! Rob, Rafael and Evan continue to man their battle stations down to the wire.
Here we go, team. Here we go!
10:00am
We need to submit our pitch video by 2pm. I expect FirstStep to be up and running in a sufficient enough manner that the core functionality we want to present will shine.
I think there are around 63 teams here in NYC. Only 6 move on to the next round in just over 2 weeks in San Francisco.
After the judges review the 90 second videos for all 63 teams, the top 20 will get to demo their products live. This round will determine the lucky 6 who get to vie for the big prize in July!

Tick, tock…

8:00am
Word on the street is that the volunteer who’s been picking up and delivering food throughout #angelhackNY has had his van broken into. Poor guy. Seriously. That really sucks.
Being without food all night also, sucks, however. Crankiness is rising…
Cue the DD!
7:00am
Design: Done. Solid. Evan killed it. Our site’s gonna look great!
Back end: Updated Singly API for user registration/login. Integrating Firebase next for live chat!
Front end: Got sidetracked with some JS. Finishing logins and registers, then moving on to search results.
Still not much stirring from the other teams here at The Hatchery. Some are locked in rooms, heads down, pounding away at their products. Others…still on floors, couches, in corners…
Here we go…
The sun is COMING UP! Let’s get this done, team!
